LINEN, LUXURY AND LOCAL TALENT STEAL THE SHOW AT SHANGRI-LA KL
On July 19, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur hosted an elegant fusion of fashion and fine dining, as An Afternoon in Style brought back the charm of weekend high teas and fashion showcases. Held at the hotel’s Lobby Lounge, the one-day event transported guests to a bygone era of Kuala Lumpur’s social scene, reimagined with a modern sensibility.
The highlight of the afternoon was a runway showcase by designer Carven Ong, presenting his Spring/Summer 2025 collection. Signature contemporary linen pieces made a striking statement, balancing modern silhouettes with easy wearability—a nod to both comfort and style that complements the needs of the present-day lifestyle.
Rounding out the fashion experience were exclusive designer handbags by Ryan Lee and dazzling jewellery by Grace Teoh. These pieces stood out not only as accessories but as expressions of local craftsmanship, underlining the event’s dedication to homegrown talent.
Guests were also invited to indulge in a specially curated Afternoon Tea experience. The selection featured handcrafted delights, from savoury bites to delicate desserts, all paired with premium blends from the London Tea Exchange. Served with Shangri-La’s signature hospitality, the tea was as much a highlight as the catwalk itself.
The atmosphere was further enlivened by a lucky draw, with prizes including ready-to-wear couture from Carven Ong, luxurious stays at Shangri-La properties across Malaysia, and unforgettable dining experiences. It was a well-rounded afternoon that blended style, taste, and celebration in seamless harmony.
For those who missed the event, the Afternoon Tea Set is still available at the Lobby Lounge until August 15, inviting more guests to enjoy a slice of refined indulgence in the heart of the city.
